Welcome to Fettle. This Privacy Policy outlines how Neera Technologies Private Limited ("Fettle," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data.
This policy applies to our mobile application (the "App"), the Fettle emergency alert hardware (the "Device"), and all related services (collectively, the "Services").
By creating an account, you provide your consent for us to process, use, access, share or utilize your personal data for the purposes outlined in this policy.
2. The Personal Data We Collect
A. Data You Provide Directly:
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your Full Name, Email Address, and Phone Number.
- Demographic Information: We ask for your Age and Gender. This helps us understand our user base and is essential for some health-related calculations.
- Emergency Contacts: You can provide the names and phone numbers of up to three (3) emergency contacts. This data is used exclusively to send alerts initiated by you or by the Device's auto-detection feature. You must have explicit permission from your contacts before providing their information to us.
- Wi-Fi Credentials: To enable your Fettle Device to operate independently and send alerts, the App requires your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. This is used only for the one-time configuration of your Device.
B. Data We Collect Automatically:
- Device and Connection Data: When you use the App and the Device, we collect:
- Hardware MAC Address: The unique MAC address of your Fettle Device's microcontroller. This is essential for the App to automatically identify and connect to your specific Device via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Phone's MAC Address: The MAC address of your smartphone. This is used to identify your primary device in cases where you are logged in on multiple devices, ensuring future features like location sharing are linked to the correct source.
- Technical Data: Your smartphone's IP address, device type, operating system version, and Bluetooth signals for establishing connection.
- Usage Data: We collect aggregated and anonymized data about how you interact with the App (e.g., feature usage, session duration, crash reports) via Firebase Analytics.
3. How We Use Your Personal Data (Purpose of Processing)
Your data is used for the following specific purposes:
- To Provide Core Services: Your account information, emergency contacts, and Wi-Fi credentials are used to operate the emergency alert system, which is the primary function of our Service. This includes creating your account, connecting your Device, and making calls to your contacts during an alert.
- To Improve Our Products and Services: Aggregated and anonymized Age, Gender, and Usage Data are analyzed to improve the App's user experience and to inform development decisions for future products. In some specific cases, Age and Gender may be used directly for health-related calculations within the App.
- For Security and Connectivity: The MAC addresses of your phone and Device are crucial for secure and seamless BLE pairing, for identifying your primary device, and for preventing unauthorized use of your account.
- To Communicate With You: We use your email address or phone number to send essential service-related announcements, security notices, and customer support responses. We use Firebase to send push notifications for important alerts.
Future Use of Location Data: Our service does not currently collect your precise location. In the future, we may introduce features that share your real-time location with emergency contacts during an alert. We will only collect this data with your explicit, separate consent at the time such a feature is introduced.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We are not in the business of selling your personal data. We share it only with trusted partners essential to providing our service:
- With Our Service Provider: We use Google Firebase for our entire backend infrastructure. This means your data is stored on Google's secure servers. Google acts as our Data Processor for the purposes of:
- Cloud Hosting and Database Management
- User Authentication
- Push Notifications
- Aggregated Analytics
- Personal Data may also be shared with third party service providers, consultants, agents, affiliates, and individuals with would we have an obligation to maintain confidentiality of your data.
- With Your Emergency Contacts: When an alert is triggered (manually by you or automatically by the Device), our system will initiate a call to the contacts you have designated.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your data if required by law or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the safety of our users, or defend our legal rights.
5. Data Security and Retention
- Security: We use Google Firebase's robust security infrastructure to protect your data. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We have strict internal access controls to ensure your data is protected from unauthorized access.
- Retention: We retain your personal data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will erase your personal data in line with our data retention policy, keeping only anonymized data for analytical purposes and any data required to meet our legal obligations.

We may update this policy as our services evolve. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date, sending an email, or posting a prominent notice within the App.
8. No Liability
You have voluntarily agreed and consented to the use of your personal data by us, hence, we shall have no liability for any liability towards any action, loss, claim, hurt, injury, damage, costs, expenses, awards, orders or any adverse action made against you or suffered by you in relation to your use/access of the product/app/website or submission of any personal data to us.
